... Louisville is one interesting destination. Head out up north and west on Blackiston Mill road, Mt Tabor road, then up Green Valley road, and you ascend to an interesting area called 'The Knobs'. Or day ride south past Churchill Downs and through Iroquois Park and south into Jefferson Memorial Forest.

Summer riding can include Tornados ! While returning to my hotel after dinner on a balmy evening, two things happened in quick succession: 1) I heard the oddest squeel coming from the front of a passing police car, and 2) the sky in the south west got VERY dark... VERY FAST !!! I learned out later the odd squeel was the Tornado siren - and those dark clouds brought a drenching rain that flooded Louisville's downtown streets above the curbs...and I limped my way back to the hotel.

Jeffersonville Indiana is just across the bridge from Downtown Louisville. There you'll find a super B&B there called the Market Street Inn. Not only is this a great place to stay - and propretors Carol and Steve are absolutely fabulous hosts... I Steve is a cyclist and he took the time to show me around town. They also both were so helpful with my bike storage box..and so many other little things - I can't say enough about them !

Jeffersonville is home also to Schimpffs Candy company (and museum). Be sure to arrive when they are having one of their tours. 120 years in the candy making business - they originated 'cinnamon redhots'.

If you're in need of a good steak, be sure to check out the Cast Iron Steakhouse, just east of Jeffersonville, down by the river.

If you're into vintage steel bikes (like I am), you've got to visit Vic's Vintage Bikes. He's got a great collection of bikes - and most are for sale. For a view on the day I stopped by, click HERE.
