on the route back to Louisville took me through a lot of rich farmland. Up through a small town called 'New Market' there was an interesting abandoned general store. All in all a very nice 60 mile day.

But.. it was the LAST day - and it does seem on all my rides, that last day has a 'headin to the barn' kind of feel .. no matter how ya figure it. Looking forward to the trip winding down, the last days do have a different mystique to them, don't ya think ?? I remember that being true on my 11 day England Trip.

One other thing to mention.. on this last day of the ride, the summer heat cranked up a notch. I must say - goin on this ride in the 4th week of June was potentially CRAZY - and I really had not well researched the heat. I do recall one member of the Touring email list group kind of softly hinted that 'it could be hot' ... when I was asking about good routes and destinations ! By July the heat and humidity jumped WAY up - and had I landed and began to ride then, I would have canceled the ride FOR SURE !!!!

I lucked out - but probably would have been safer to plan this route in late spring or early fall.
