.... at about mile 8 my route went north and onto one of Charlies great 'backroutes'. Paralleling highway 64 west (and north of the busy Corydon Pike alternative), and definately including some elevation, the ride on Corydon Ridge was super. The countryside changed from open farmland to more residential acreage as I rode into Corydon. Before Indianapolis, Corydon was the capital of Indiana and there are some super old buildings in the old part of town.

I took the Old Forest road south and west of town, and so glad I did. Notice (on the RideGPS map) that around mile 34 I missed a turn and descended a couple of miles down towards a large tributary of the Ohio river. Though I was bummed when I realized my mistake and needed to climb back out, the route had some of the nicest vistas of the entire day!

Ending up the day by climbing up and out of the Harrison Crawford state forest, I turned a bend and came upon a fabulous view of the Ohio river at the new location of Leavenworth, IN , high above the river. The original town was located at the water's edge, but that go abandoned after the 1937 flood.
