The Food

First things first... hey- you've GOTTA EAT !

I've been known to say 'the food sucks in Utah' - well, in St George there is a Mexican place called CAFE RIO. It's a stand in line place that has some of the freshest tex-mex (they call it Rio Grande style) you can find. Great tortilla soup. Its off the highway at 471 St George St - serves till 9:00 pm. We went back for lunch before leavin, and the manager laid a piece of their strawberry 'Tres Leches' on us - nothing more said.

Springdale - there is a place in the middle of town called 'HISTORIC POINEER INN' . You might not think to go in (it looks like a coffee shop hooked to a motel) - but Jim was curious if it was the same place he and his dad ate at in the early 70's. Well, indeed it was, and the food was as good as he recalled ! Great steak sandwichs and meatloaf. Good salad bar, AND fresh banana creme pie.

Baker - well, you can just ferget about that big thermamoter and the greasy spoon attached to it at the bottom.... just head across the street to THE MAD GREEK. Yes - I'm suggesting you eat Greek food in the friggin middle of the Mojave desert! This place rocks - and has a much larger menu than just greek food (though the greek chicken salad is super andtheir grape leaves are wonderful). Super fresh food - super fast service - they even have a juice bar and killer milk shakes.

(so ... no - we didnt starve !)
